In many countries certain groups in society are denied the opportunity either to have their voice heard or to fulfil their potential; worldwide this is particularly true of women.
WFD’s strategy promotes participation in the political process. In keeping with this, encouragement of women to participate in the decision-making process, together with support for the development of an environment that will ensure their inclusion, has been a priority for the Foundation since its inception. WFD also supports projects which aim to increase the level of professionalism of women participating in politics and contribute to equal representation of women in political parties and other democratic institutions.
