Relationship with UK Government
As a UK public body, Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is classified as an “Executive Non-Departmental Public Body” and sponsored by the the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). WFD is not an integral part of any Government Department. We carry out our work at arm’s length from Ministers.
Our relationship with Government is regulated by a Framework Agreement (2013) between WFD and the FCO. The 2013 Framework Agreement replaced the earlier 2004 Management Statement and Financial Memorandum.
We are currently implementing a 2017-2022 Strategic Framework which was unveiled at a conference in September 2017.
We publish the edited minutes of our Board of Governors meetings from 2012. More information about the Board and current members can be found here.
