In Ukraine, a lack of capacity for human resources and training impedes proper support to MPs and committees, despite the Parliament being well resourced.
WFD is implementing a programme for parliamentary training, human resources development and management in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In addition to the three areas of the curriculum mentioned above, in Ukraine a fourth area has been developed in NGO – Parliament relations. The National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) is helping to develop the material in this area.
The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the Agency for Legislative Initiatives, Fisco Inform and the Mohyla School of Journalism are the local partners in Ukraine developing the curriculum and delivering the training to parliamentary staff, journalists covering parliamentary affairs, and NGOs working with Parliament.
