Call for UK observers to EU election observation mission in Liberia

Following the decision of the EU Commission to initiate the selection procedure for Long Term Observers and Short Term Observers for the EU EOM Liberia. WFD is now initiating the selection process for Long-Term and Short-Term Observers to observe Liberia’s Presidential and House of Representatives Elections scheduled for 10 October 2017.

To be considered as a Long-Term Observer (LTO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):
Deployment, scheduled for:
10 September 2017 to 14 October 2017, for most LTO teams
10 September 2017 to 14 October 2017, for LTO teams assigned to the capital city Monrovia (Training session: 11-12 September 2017)

29 October 2017 to 13 November 2017, for most LTO teams – in case of a Presidential Election second round
29 October 2017 to 15 November 2017, for LTO teams assigned to the capital city Monrovia – in case of a Presidential Election second round
(Training session: 30-31 October 2017)

To be considered as a Short-Term Observer (STO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):
Deployment, scheduled for:

4-13 October 2017, for most LTO teams
(Training session: 5-6 October 2017)

2-11 November 2017, for most LTO teams – in case of a Presidential Election second round
(Training session: 3-4 November 2017)

As per recommendation from the European Commission, we will be only proposing candidates certifying their full availability for the entire period of the mission.

If you would like to be considered for either position, please submit your interest by sending a completed application form to election.observation@wfd.org by Sunday 13 August (23:59 GMT). Please save your application as “YOUR SURNAME-Your-Name-LTO/STO/BOTH”
It is mandatory that you are also registered with the European Commission and that this information is kept up-to-date.

WFD will be submitting the names of up to 3 shortlisted candidates for the LTO position and up to 3 shortlisted candidates for the STO position to the EU Commission on Wednesday 16 August 2017 before 23:59 GMT. The European Commission plans to inform selected LTO/STO by 20 August 2017.

Please note that only British nationals are eligible to apply, and the working language of the mission will be proficiency English.

Please note that we will only be considering all the applications received before the deadline and only the shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
