Call for Long Term Observers for the EU EOM Nigeria

The EU Commission’s will potentially deploy Long Term Observers for the EU EOM Nigeria –  pending the final decision of the High Representative on the Development of an EU EOM to the Nigeria.

WFD is now initiating the selection process for Long-Term observers to the Nigeria General Elections, scheduled for 16 February 2019 for President and 2 March 2019 for Governors.

*** No Short Term Observers are foreseen for this mission ***

To be considered as a Long-Term Observer (LTO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):

  • 13/01/2019 Departure to Nigeria

  • 14/03/2019 Departure from Nigeria

As per recommendation from the European Commission, we will be only proposing candidates certifying their full availability for the entire period of the mission.

If you would like to be considered for the either position, please submit your interest by sending a completed application form to election.observation@wfd.org. The deadline for applications is Thursday, 29 November (23:59 GMT). It is mandatory that you are also registered with the European Commission and that this information is kept up-to-date.

WFD will be submitting the names of up to 4 shortlisted candidates for the LTO position to the EU Commission on Monday 3 December – only shortlisted observers will be notified by 3 December CoB. The European Commission plans to inform selected LTOs by Monday 10 December.

Please note that only British nationals are eligible to apply, and the working language of the mission will be in English. Therefore, it is a requirement of the post that the candidate has fluent written and spoken English (C1 level).

Please note that we will only be considering all the applications received before the deadline and only the shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
