The EU Commission’s will potentially deploy Short and Long Term Observers for the EU EOM Senegal –  pending the final decision of the High Representative VP to observe the country’s Presidential Elections scheduled to take place on 24 February 2019.

WFD is now initiating the selection process for Short and Long-Term observers to the Senegal Presidential Elections, scheduled for 24 February 2019 for President and possible 2nd round on 24 March at the latest.

To be considered as a Long-Term Observer (LTO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):

  • 24/01/2019 Departure to Senegal
  • 05/04/2019 Departure from Senegal (in the case of a second round)

To be considered as a Short-Term Observer (STO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):

1st Round:

  • 19/02/2019 Arrival in Senegal
  • 28/02/2019 Departure from Senegal

In the case of a 2nd Round: (E-Day 24/03/2019 at the latest)

  • 19/03/2019 Arrival in Senegal
  • 28/03/2019 Departure from Senegal

As per recommendation from the European Commission, we will be only proposing candidates certifying their full availability for the entire period of the mission.

It is mandatory that you are also registered with the European Commission and that this information is kept up-to-date.

WFD will be submitting the names of up to 3 shortlisted candidates for the LTO position and 4 shortlisted candidates for the STO position to the EU Commission on Wednesday 12 December – only shortlisted observers will be notified by 12 December CoB. The European Commission plans to inform selected LTOs and STOs by Monday 19 December.

Please note that only British nationals are eligible to apply, and the working language of the mission will be in French. Therefore, it is a requirement of the post that the candidate has fluent written and spoken French (C1 level).
