The EU Commission’s will potentially deploy Short and Long Term Observers for the EU EOM Malawi – pending the final decision of the High Representative to observe the tripartite elections scheduled to take place on 21 May 2019.
WFD is now initiating the selection process for Short and Long-Term observers.
To be considered as a Long-Term Observer (LTO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):
- 14/04/2019 Departure to Malawi
- 04/06/2019 Departure from Malawi
To be considered as a Short-Term Observer (STO), you must be available over the following dates (indicative):
- 14/05/2019 Arrival in Malawi
- 29/05/2019 Departure from Malawi
As per recommendation from the European Commission, we will only propose candidates who are certify their full availability for the entire period of the mission.
How to apply
It is mandatory that you are also registered with the European Commission and that this information is kept up-to-date.
WFD will be submitting the names of up to 3 shortlisted candidates for the LTO position and up to 3 shortlisted candidates for the STO position to the EU Commission on Tuesday 12 March – only shortlisted observers will be notified by 12 March CoB. The European Commission plans to inform selected LTOs and STOs by Thursday 21 March.

Please note that only British nationals are eligible to apply, and the working language of the mission will be English. Therefore, it is a requirement of the post that the candidate has fluent written and spoken English (C1 level).
