Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) has recently concluded a three-year programme (2016-2019) focused on strengthening parliamentary practices in the Parliaments of Myanmar. WFD will continue to deliver the programme for the next two years (2020-2021) in partnership with; the UK House of Commons, British Council, Irrawaddy Policy Exchange and other implementing partners, through other programmes involving MPs, parliamentary staff and CSOs, to improve the technical capacity of the parliament and to encourage MPs to engage effectively with the people they represent.
We are now looking to recruit a Programme Coordinator to support the delivery of our programmes in Myanmar.
The Programme Coordinator supports the Country Representative by focusing on the programme design and implementation; identifying and co-coordinating relevant activities with partner and other implementing agencies. The post will; provide administrative and logistical support, prepare and disseminate project documentation, assist in the preparation of the narrative and financial reports, collect monitor and evaluate data and communicate project successes and achievements.
The Programme Coordinator will also support the development of new areas of work under WFD’s Myanmar programme. This may include support to Myanmar’s Parliament on legislative openness and transparency as well as its engagement with the media. Additional new areas of work may also include support at the sub-national level to Myanmar’s state and regional legislatures.
The core skills and experience we are looking for are;
- Extensive project management, administration, evaluation, monitoring experience
- Financial and budget management experience – competent using Excel and producing financial reports
- Knowledge of the local parliamentary system, political background and the challenges of democracy in the country.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Fluent English and Burmese skills (written and oral)
- Credibility and confidence in communication and networking
- Degree level in a relevant discipline
- Ability and confidence to multi-task in an international environment
