WFD Kyrgyzstan has been operating since 2011. WFD focuses on promoting transparent, accountable and inclusive politics.
WFD, in consortium with four organisations, is launching the EU-funded “Project in Support of Sustainable Media Sector Reform for Elections-related Conflict Prevention in Kyrgyzstan”. The project aims to strengthen the capacity and responsibility of media actors to operate as drivers of democracy and to prevent potential conflicts during the 2020 parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. It follows two parallel pathways towards achieving this goal: improving the policy and legal environment affecting the media sector, consistent with international freedom of expression standards; and assisting media actors in playing a role of democratic watchdogs during the 2020 electoral cycle. The project relies on three main components, which will be implemented along the electoral cycle of the 2020 parliamentary elections: 1) policy and dialogue, 2) media professionalisation and 3) strengthening the media’s economic independence.
We are now looking to recruit an experienced Project Coordinator with sound experience in parliamentary, media, and/or election programmes, to coordinate WFD’s activities with the policy and dialogue pillar of the project. This position will be based in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The Programme Coordinator role
The Programme Coordinator supports the Country Representative by focusing on the programme design and implementation; identifying and co-coordinating relevant activities with partner and other implementing agencies. The post will; provide administrative and logistical support, prepare and disseminate project documentation, assist in the preparation of the narrative and financial reports, collect monitor and evaluate data and communicate project successes and achievements.
The core skills and experience we are looking for are;
- Extensive project management, administration, evaluation, monitoring experience
- Financial and budget management experience – competent using Excel and producing financial reports
- Knowledge of the local parliamentary system, political background and the challenges of democracy in the country.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Familiarity with the media sector and media legislation in Kyrgyzstan.
- Fluent in spoken and written Kyrgyz and English
- Credibility and confidence in communication and networking
- Degree level in a relevant discipline
- Ability and confidence to multi-task in an international environment
