Green Fundraising Programme – Call for Applications

August 05th, 2021

Does your Green party want to diversify its funding sources? Would you like to meet with experienced Green representatives from other countries to learn about their party fundraising successes? Would your party like to refresh its fundraising strategy? Then the Green Fundraising Programme might be of interest to you.

The Green Fundraising Programme is an online training programme for Green parties to help develop their internal fundraising skills and expertise, build their fundraising strategies and exchange experiences and lessons with Green sister-parties from other countries.

The programme is a joint initiative between the Green Party of England and Wales, Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the Global Greens, Bureau de Helling Democracy Development Abroad and Green Forum. Each partner brings with them to the programme specific fundraising experience from a range of contexts and backgrounds.

This year’s scheme is open to Green parties from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (outside the EU), the Middle East and North Africa who are seeking to strengthen their fundraising capabilities and develop and broaden their fundraising strategies.

Participating parties will attend a series of online training workshops over six months from September 2021 – February 2022, covering different elements within fundraising. The workshops will focus on fundraising methods and tools, as well as developing the foundations for successful fundraising. Alongside the main training workshops, the programme will also include assignments and individual feedback sessions with fundraising experts and peer exchanges between participating parties.

By the end of the training programme, each party will have developed a new or updated fundraising strategy for their party based on learning and feedback from the programme.

Programme Outline

A maximum of 8 parties will be selected to take part in the programme, with two representatives invited from each party.

The programme includes the following elements:

  • 5-6 online workshops run by a range of fundraising experts, who will share their experience and provide practical guidance and interactive exercises on different elements within fundraising. The workshops will cover the following main areas:
    • Fundraising foundations, including party fundraising infrastructure, goals, budgets and strategies, income source mapping and fundraising messaging
    • Digital fundraising methods and tools
    • In person and direct-ask fundraising
    • Other fundraising approaches and ongoing donor engagement
  • Assignments to complete in between workshops, aimed at applying learning from the workshops and contributing to participating parties’ fundraising strategies.
  • 1:1 sessions with fundraising experts, to provide tailored feedback and support to participating parties in between workshops on their fundraising strategies.
  • Peer exchange sessions, to provide the opportunity to learn from the experiences of other participating parties outside of the main workshops.

The programme will be run in English, although translation into certain languages can be made available depending on need. The programme is free of charge for participants.
