Lord Ahmad, Minister of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), has appointed two new members to WFD's Board of Governors: Milica Delevic and Liz Saville Roberts MP.

Speaking of their appointments, Chair of WFD's Board of Governors, Richard Graham CMG MP said

“I am pleased to welcome Milica Delević and Liz Saville Roberts MP to WFD's Board of Governors. Whether climate change, persecution of minorities or civil war, the world is facing complex problems. Milica and Liz's knowledge and perspectives will help us steer a course towards our vision of a world where freedom and democracy help provide local, national and global solutions.”

WFD is governed by a Board of Governors made up of UK Members of Parliament (MPs) who represent the main UK political parties, as well as independent members. We operate at arm’s length from government ministers.

Liz said:

"Westminster Foundation for Democracy was founded to help democracies thrive, and I am immensely honoured to be joining the Board of the WFD at such a critical moment, to advance and promote the safeguarding of democratic institutions worldwide. There is nothing more important than having strong, accountable democracies, but sadly too many countries are deprived of that luxury. My work in Parliament has laid bare some of the real threats faced by democratic institutions across the globe, and we must never allow ourselves to become immune to those struggles. I look forward to working with fellow WFD colleagues as we work to strengthen accountability, encourage diversity, and bolster inclusivity in democracies worldwide."
