WFD in Montenegro created a community of key stakeholders—such as Women MPs and women’s organisation representatives from political parties—to explore the causes and impact of violence against women in politics (VAWP) and develop practical solutions to address this issue.

Throughout the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) programme, WFD’s work has focused on strengthening the role of parliament in promoting democracy, enhancing public debt oversight, supporting women’s political leadership, and fostering civil society engagement.

In Malaysia, WFD collaborated with various stakeholders, including members of parliament, ministers, ministry officials and civil society organisations, to promote the adoption of gender-responsive budgeting to improve the lives of all citizens. 

WFD and its regional partners hosted a public seminar to launch its VAWP Methodology, a new resource designed to address violence against women in politics and foster inclusive political environments across Southeast Asia.

WFD's environmental democracy work in Indonesia led to the inclusion of a Climate Change Bill which seeks to strengthen climate governance and mobilise adequate resources for climate change adaptation and mitigation for the first time into the national legislative agenda. 

In Albania, WFD’s programme led to effective corruption-proofing recommendations being integrated into two crucial laws: the Law on Gambling and the Law on the State Police.

In 2024–2025, WFD in Ukraine supported parliament, strengthened links between Ukrainian and UK political actors, helped political parties understand public priorities, and worked with civil society and local government to aid national recovery.

The Public Debt Management Assessment Tool (PDMAT) is an innovative framework that helps parliaments enhance oversight of public debt, align practices with international standards, and promote sustainable fiscal policies.

Over the past 14 years, WFD has partnered with the Moroccan Parliament to advance democratic governance through accountability, transparency, and inclusion. This article highlights ten key achievements—among many—that reflect the progress and enduring impact of this collaboration.

To support parliament in its efforts to address Sri Lanka’s severe economic crisis and ensure sustainable and inclusive economic transformation, WFD Sri Lanka convened the Coalition for Inclusive Impact, which included MPs, political party members, media, civil society, and underrepresented groups. 

In a poignant speech to the Bangsamoro Parliament in February 2025, MP Engr. Don Mustapha Loong highlighted the transformative impact of WFD's support for the region's democratic transition since 2019.

The Parliamentorship Initiative in Serbia paired 20 UNICEF Youth Advisory Board members (ages 15–25) with 11 MPs from across the political spectrum, providing mentorship on policy-making and parliamentary processes.

To equip parliaments with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the landscape of AI, these guidelines consider ethical implications, transparency, accountability, and the integration of AI within the parliamentary workspace, and more. They provide a framework that parliaments can adapt to their context and needs.

With this tool, parliaments can evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses against established standards with a view to becoming stronger democratic institutions.

This manual provides practical guidance preparing, organising and following up on post-legislative scrutiny activities. The manual proposes new or additional parliamentary practices to improve the efficiency of PLS and/or its outreach to the public. This document is a revised and updated version of WFD’s PLS manual from 2017.
