Mutheu Kasanga has worked at the Lukenya Schools in Kenya since 1997, starting off as a teacher in the liberal arts. She is currently a director on the board of the Lukenya Schools and College (2005-date), in charge of curriculum implementation and monitoring. She is also a trustee at the Lukenya University Trust.

Mutheu is the current National Chairperson (2017-date) for the Kenya Private Schools Association. In this role she has overseen the growth of the association into all 47 counties of Kenya. Of note, during the pandemic, the association set up a learning management platform for private schools serving disadvantaged populations to facilitate access to e-learning. During her tenure, Mutheu has advocated for access to education for girls, as well projects which have increased the quality of education in Kenya.

Mutheu is the Education Sector Board Chair (2017-date) for the Kenya Private Sector Alliance. She also serves as board member at the East Africa Science and Technology Commission and the Kenya Education Management Institute.

Mutheu is a frequent speaker at conferences on issues around access to high quality education and the role of the private sector in a developing country in the achievement of SDG4.

Mutheu lives in Lukenya, Machakos County, Kenya.
