Jael Omumani Omunyangoli was born in Kakamega County, Kenya. She is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement, and Secretary of the party’s Women’s League in Lurambi Subcounty. She is currently pursuing a degree in Public Policy and Administration at Kenyatta University.

Jael has worked as an administrative assistant at the United Nations Support Office for Somalia based in Mombasa, where she gained extensive experience in training modalities, organisational administration, teamwork and mobilisation, human resource management and basic financial management.

She currently works as a director of a community-based organisation that she established with other women in her local community. She has always been passionate about community engagement and empowerment for the simple reason that when she was orphaned, her and her siblings were supported by her community leaders who assisted them in getting an education.

Jael’s involvement in the community gives her an opportunity to teach and demonstrate the importance of participating in politics, governance and taking up leadership positions, especially amongst women and young girls. Most of the projects she handles are in agriculture, climate change mitigation measures and civic and voter education.
