“Disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind”

- Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948

As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights turned 75, the catastrophic human consequences of the conflicts that currently rage around the world remind us how far we have to go.

In Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank, the killing of civilians must stop so that the work to build sustainable peace can start.

For us, democracy means upholding human rights, the peaceful resolution of conflict, and equal political participation of all people.
