Less than one year after democracy was restored to The Gambia, WFD and the UK branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, agreed a partnership programme with the National Assembly at a function in the House of Commons.

Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) recently organised a conference to help combat violence against women in politics. Discussions focused on strategies to reduce gender-based violence and promote the involvement of women in the political sphere.
At WFD, we believe that the power of people is the most transformative force on earth. Over the last 30 years we have actively helped democracies to grow stronger, so that freedom and prosperity can flourish.
WFD is currently not working in Sudan, but we previously engaged with democratic institutions, women leaders, and political parties to support a peaceful transition towards a multi-party democracy in the country.
