In September 2019, WFD and the Albanian Enterprise Institute published a study which outlined and analysed the costs that at present are incurred by party candidates. The study reveals how much the political landscape in Albania is open to citizens' engagement with politics.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, private sector employees are usually underpaid and their employment status is often not regulated enough. Also, their salaries paid in illegal ways meaning they get fewer pension benefits. What is more, employers often violate or deny employees’ labour rights.

This paper examines the extent to which parliamentary committees provide women in African parliaments with an avenue for influencing laws and policies in the health sector. It maps the inclusion of women in parliamentary committees across sub-Saharan Africa and presents a case study of Malawi, where in 2017 female legislators made use of parliamentary committees to influence a new law on HIV and AIDS – an issue of vital importance to women.

Boycotting parliament has become an increasingly common occurrence in parliamentary life in the Western Balkans. To better understand the phenomenon and its potential implications for parliamentary support projects in the Western Balkans, WFD through the Western Balkans Democracy Initiative commissioned a research study on the causes and effects of boycotting parliament.
